Discover. Explore. Know. Under this motto, the Open House Day will take place at the Forschungscampus Garching on 3 October 2026, from 10 am to 5 pm. At the same time, big and small “The Mouse” fans should take note! The nationwide event “Doors Open with the Mouse,” organized by WDR, will also take place, offering visitors a journey of discovery into the world of science.

Just as they did two years ago, many institutes at the Garching Research Campus will open their doors on “Die Maus” Open House Day and offer a behind-the-scenes glimpse. Visitors can look forward to numerous hands-on activities, lab tours, lectures, and other informational events such as science slams and shows. Music and numerous food stands will create a lively atmosphere and provide plenty of refreshments.

Under the theme “From Quantum to Cultures,” the clusters of excellence BioSysteM, Cross-Cultural Philology, e-conversion, MCQST, NUCLEATE, TransforM, and ORIGINS will present their research through a diverse program of hands-on activities, offering fascinating insights into the breadth of Munich’s cutting-edge research. At the joint booths, you can expect exciting hands-on experiments and plenty of information about the clusters. With the Research Passport, children and teens can complete seven challenges and win prizes.

Last year, the event was overwhelmingly popular, and many attractions requiring registration were fully booked. So, in the spirit of the motto “Discover. Explore. Know.”, it’s worth getting active before 3 October!
