What happens when science meets improvisational theatre and game design? During the project week “Create Your Own Format – Public Engagement Prototyping and Piloting”, Master’s students and PhD candidates will work together with researchers, improvisers and game design experts to develop new ideas for science communication and public engagement. The goal is to design, prototype and test creative formats that foster dialogue between science and society.
Can improvisational theatre help communicate cutting-edge energy research? Can computer games open up new ways for people to engage with science? These are the questions at the heart of the interdisciplinary project week “Create Your Own Format – Public Engagement Prototyping and Piloting”, which will take place during the winter semester at the Hochschule für Politik München (HfP).
Together with researchers from the Cluster of Excellence e-conversion, the improvisational theatre group Kanonenfutter (“A Quantum of Improv”), and experts from the Chair of N-Dimensional User Experience at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), participants will explore creative and interactive approaches to science communication and public engagement. The focus lies on improvisation, game design and the question of how research can be made tangible and engaging. Working in interdisciplinary teams, participants will develop their own concepts, build prototypes and test new formats for dialogue between science and society.
For e-conversion, the project week, which will take place from 11-15 January 2027 at the Hochschule für Politik München (HfP), offers an exciting opportunity to explore innovative approaches to science communication and to develop creative ideas for communicating research together with students from a wide range of disciplines.
Who can participate?
Master’s students and PhD candidates from all disciplines who are interested in science communication, creativity, public engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration are welcome to apply.
Applications are open until the kick-off event on 16 October!
