Holiday Program

Final Event Easter Program

Sucessful start

The BMBF funded program “Holidays for the Future” offers a wide range of topics concerning energy and climate change during the Easter, Whitsun and Summer school holidays. At the first edition during the Easter holidays 2022, around 40 high school students from 13-16 years took part in workshops organized by e-conversion on energy system transformation, solar energy, batteries and climate change. They built solar panels as well as the perfect wind wheel. The Stadtwerke München offered a visit to a hydro electric power plant and the Deutsches Museum gave special guided tours. The closing event was on 15 May 2022 at the Deutsche Museum. There the participants could present their future scenarios to the public. Within this framework, the Deutsche Museum and e-conversion offered an extra program for the visitors like additional guided tours and workshops.

About “Holidays for the Future”

In order to limit the negative consequences for high school students after the pandemic, the Federal Republic of Germany has initiated the program “EaseCorona”. One pillar of the program are offerings to complement the school curriculum in extracurricular learning environments. The purpose is to provide incentives for the young people to get more interested in science and to enhance a good personality development while working in teams. During the pandemic, the pupils could neither go on excursions nor discover science via hands-on experiments. In this context, e-conversion has started together with Stadtwerke München, the Munich energy provider and the Deutsche Museum the project “Holidays for the Future”.
