Science thrives on different perspectives. New ideas emerge when people with diverse experiences, realities and academic cultures come together, exchange views and learn from one another. This is the focus of TUM Diversity Week 2026, which will take place from 8 to 12 June under the motto “Life in all dimensions: Exploring what true integration looks like”.
The week addresses the many dimensions of university life: research and study, work and careers, family and care responsibilities, health, personal development and community. It is therefore not aimed at individual groups alone, but at everyone who helps shape the culture at TUM, from students and doctoral candidates to postdocs, staff members and professors.
A special highlight will be the TUM Diversity Day on Thursday, 11 June 2026, at the Vorhoelzer Forum on TUM’s main campus. From 12:00 to 18:00, participants can expect an English-language program with keynotes, panel discussions, impulses and networking opportunities. Topics include responsible leadership, structural barriers in professional life, digital violence, and the question of how different dimensions of life can be integrated in a more sustainable way. The TUM Diversity Research Prize 2026 and the TUM Lead with Care Award 2026 will also be presented. The day will conclude with a networking reception starting at 18:00. Beyond the Diversity Day itself, TUM Diversity Week offers a range of workshops, talks and discussion formats. It creates space for exchange and reflection on how academic excellence, equal opportunities and different life paths can be considered together. After all, excellent research does not emerge in isolation, but under conditions that foster participation, openness and mutual respect.
