About the Event
All PhD students within the e-conversion program may attend. We focused on offering a wide range of activities to appeal to the diverse backgrounds of e-conversion members. There will be a balance of talks from e-conversion PIs, relevant workshops, PhD student presentations, and talks from industry representatives. In between the sessions, there will be ample time for informal discussions and networking, e.g., on the skiing slopes, in the pub, or while hiking with other e-conversion members 😉 The exact schedule will be shared later on.

Please note:
Since the number of available slots is limited, the selection will be handled on the “first come, first served” principle while prioritizing allowing one person from each research group to attend. It is recommended that groups send newer members who have not yet had the chance to join one of our retreats to promote integration within the cluster’s network. We encourage all students to give a short presentation (5-10 minutes) or bring a poster about their research projects.

Where?

At the Mercure Hotel (Mittenwalder Straße 2, 82467 Garmisch-Partenkirchen) in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a lovely village in the German Alps, surrounded by nature and a beautiful landscape. This area provides plenty of options for outdoor fun, like skiing, hiking, or exploring the city. If you prefer, you can also stay at the cozy hotel and go for a swim and use the sauna.

What about transportation?

We will be traveling by train from Munich Central Station. Since most of you – if not all of you – have already purchased the Deutschlandticket, this will be sufficient to get to the hotel. Please let us know if you need the Deutschlandticket or plan to travel alone. More information will follow in due time.

Are there any costs?

No! E-conversion will cover the arranged travel costs, accommodation, and meals. You’ll only need to take care of additional activities you may choose to do in your free time.

How to apply?

Please send an email to  h.nguyen@fkf.mpg.de  stating your full name, research group, gender (for accommodation purposes), whether you intend to travel with us, and any dietary preferences (we will discuss them with the hotel staff and let you know before the trip whether they can be accommodated).
